The Hubei Society for Polar Scientific Expeditions (hereinafter referred to as "the Society") was formally established in December 1995, with its inaugural conference held on January 25, 1996. Officially registered with the Hubei Provincial Department of Civil Affairs in April 1996 (Registration No. E-She Zheng Zi No. 492), the Society is a provincial-level, non-profit academic organization voluntarily formed by professionals engaged in polar scientific research and exploration, as well as media representatives, social groups, and other entities committed to polar science. The Society strictly complies with China’s Constitution, laws, regulations, and national policies, while upholding social ethics and professional standards.
The Society’s mission is to unite experts, researchers, and organizations dedicated to polar exploration, facilitate active participation in domestic and international polar research initiatives, enhance academic excellence, promote public awareness and advancement of China’s polar endeavors, and contribute to the peaceful utilization and sustainable protection of polar regions for the benefit of all humanity.
In February 2000, the Society was admitted as a member of the Hubei Federation for the Promotion of Civil Organizations, followed by its inclusion as a group member of the Hubei Association for Science and Technology in December 2000.
